Sex: a multi-component experience
You have surely already said or heard « it’s purely sexual, nothing more ». Faced with this sentence, a question automatically comes to mind: when we eat with someone, do we do it only to introduce food into our body?
Let’s continue with the idea of eating. We need to feed ourselves, but are we only eating to feed ourselves? Do we only want to eat to get the necessary nutrients in our body? NO! In general, we eat to enjoy the flavors, textures and have a good time.
When it comes to sex, it’s exactly the same. When you want to make love, you don’t just think about the satisfaction of a desire. Sex is much more than that! It is to enjoy the moment, to live a fantasy, to savor kisses, caresses and sensations, to take pleasure, to enjoy. Obviously, one can have sex without commitment, but that is not just sex. It is always much more than that, because it is a shared experience of the bodies.
Sex: between emotions and sensations
So if we recap we have: kisses, caresses, sensations, emotions, contacts, pleasure, melee, and endless experiences that complete this experience that is sex.
But, if there are so many components, is it really « just sex »? Think about it sincerely. How can it be just sex if there are certain emotions or some form of affection?
As a form of liberation, saying that a relationship is purely sexual can give us a sense of control. But for it to be « just sexual », there would have to be no caress, no affection, no emotion, no eye contact, no feeling of sharing … Feeling affection does not make us weak and it is pointless to hide what we feel. Feeling makes us human, and most importantly, it makes us alive!
