BDSM relationships, details on the different practices

bdsm relations: Top (BDSM) and bottom (BDSM)

In BDSM relationships the partner who has the active role during a session or in any relationship is described as the « top », a role which often involves inflicting pain, degradation or subjugation. The partner referred to as the « bottom » voluntarily submits to actions from the top.

Although the top is usually also the dominant partner and the bottom the submissive partner, this is not necessarily always the case. In some cases, the upper part follows the instructions of the bottom according to the wishes of the bottom.

In contrast, in the majority of cases, the dominant controls his submissive partner, sometimes using physical or psychological techniques, even though consent is always established first. This balance of power is sometimes used interchangeably in the BDSM community.

The bottom is often the partner who specifies the basic conditions of the session and gives instructions, directly or indirectly, while the top often respects this orientation. In BDSM games, the funds attempt to incur punishment from their highs by causing them or having « bad behavior ». Nonetheless, a « school » exists within the BDSM community, which considers this « provocation from below » to be rude, if not incompatible with the standards of the BDSM. bdsm relationships.

The Switch

BDSM practitioners can also practice the “Switch”, which means they play both roles. A participant can simply take advantage of both these upper and lower roles. Sometimes a relationship with a partner of the same primary preference (eg, two vertices) requires one of the partners to play the submissive role.

Professional BDSM Services

A professional dominatrix or dominant professional, often referred to in culture as a “pro-domme,” offers services spanning the spectrum of bondage, discipline, domination in exchange for money. These professional bdsm relationship services might not include sex, and may or may not include masturbation or ejaculation of semen by other means. In many cases, client gratification does not include direct orgasm. It is common for dominatrices not to think of themselves as prostitutes, but there are a lot of prostitutes who also work as professional dominatrices.

A dominant non-professional woman is more commonly referred to as simply a « Domme », « Dominant » or « Dominatrix ». There are also bdsm relationship services provided by professional female submissives (« pro-subs »).
