Randy Polumbo is what we call an artist sextoy. His latest work, Love Stream, is an airstream van covered with hundreds of blown glass dildos.
The artist’s idea is to spark discussions on sexuality and fertility.
He will exhibit his dildo work at the Steven Kasher Gallery in New York next week.
This work is the culmination of decades of similar projects and represents an artist’s obsession with phallic symbolism. “When I first started doing art, I wanted to play with male emblems like dildos,” he says. “I was fascinated and disturbed by these objects”.
In his work Love Stream, Polumbo invites visitors to approach his art with the same feeling of abandonment that he shows. “I’m interested in the simple joy of people frolicking around in this crazy thinking space, it’s like a date in a whirlpool,” he says. “You can also see it as a garden, a giant organ, or one of those quack devices those invented psychoanalysts that were meant to cure all ailments. «
After its passage in New York, the dildo work will be towed across the United States. “He’s finally going to tie up for good on the beach in Florida,” says Polumbo. But I like that it can be presented anywhere I want ”.
